Although we live on the beach, my kids love to throw a good pool party for all of their friends, and so do I! There’s something awesome about getting everyone together for a chance to cool off. Planning a pool party can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be! Check out my 10 tips for planning a pool party!
#1 Themes Are EVERYTHING
Choosing a theme for your pool party is pretty easy! In the photo below (from Martha Stewart) they took the Hawaiian tropic theme and they ran with it! Colorful lanterns, drink buckets, and straw accessories really make you feel like you are in Hawaii. Pick a theme you love, and incorporate it everywhere!
#2 Sail Away…Or SNACK Away
A sign of any great party is great FOOD. Make sure your guests are having fun, with full bellies (just wait to swim, of course!). I love this idea from A Healthy Life In The Suburbs; she turns a slice of watermelon into a delicious popsicle! I take two…or four!
#3 Pool Floats are A Must
No pool party is complete without a ton of different pool floats! Pool floats allow your guests to lounge around in style. Pick ones with cup holders for an added bonus! Check out Amazon for plenty of cheap and fun pool floats!
#4 DIY What You Can
On a budget? DIYing your decorations is often the best way to save a few dollars. Use this tutorial from Party City to help you decorate everything!
#5 Plan Activities OUTSIDE of The Pool
The pool might get boring after while, so make sure you have a backup plan! Fill a bucket full of water balloons like the girls over at Celebrations did!
#6 Don’t Forget Your Lighting!
If your pool party runs late into the night, you might want to think about your lighting options! How will your guests see? Keep your guests’ vision “afloat” with these DIY pool noodle luminaries from Pinterest.
#7 Banish Low Bloodsugar
Swimming can be tiring! If your guests need a little extra jolt of sugar, “save their life” with this Life Saver candy idea from Celebrations at Home.
#8 Decipher Between Drinks
Trouble deciding whose drink is whose? That’s the problem with every party! Use these printables from Living Locurto to help your guests decipher between drinks!
#9 Flip Flops Make Great Favors
Depending on the size of your pool party (and the occasion you might be celebrating!) flip flops often make great party favors. Walking between the pool and the snack station has never been easier! From Kara’s Party Ideas.
#10 Include Adult Friendly Beverages If Necessary
Planning on inviting the parents as well? Or maybe this is an adults-only pool party? Either way, make sure you include plenty of adult-friendly beverages! Be sure to decipher between the two if necessary. Idea appears courtesy of Keith Zars Pools.
