School will be out and vacation will be in, in no time flat! Planning a family getaway can be tough, especially planning one that pleases everyone, and doesn’t break the bank! Fortunately, I’ve done all of the grunt work for you! Check out these 8 beach resorts that aren’t too terribly expensive, and they’ll be fun for all!
#1 Outer Banks
Visit Outer Banks for the beautiful beaches, and tons of history! Here is where Oriville and Wilbur Wright took their first flight on an airplance. If fishing isn’t for you, check out the 3,000 shipwrecks along the coast. They’re perfect for a scuba diving trip! Don’t forget to play a game of golf, and visit a lighthouse or two!
#2 Sanibel Island
Just outside of Fort Myers, Sanibel Island is a tropical getaway, that isn’t too far from home. Not only is the scenery absolutely gorgeous, but this island is famous for the seashells littering it’s beaches. Be sure to collect a few of the beautiful seashells! And of course, you can DIY with them later!
#3 Myrtle Beach
The beaches are clean, and there’s a beach-side amusement park that is sure to get your kids totally stoked! Spend time at the beach, or spend a few days hidden away at one of the MANY outlet malls! Be sure to see Ripley’s Aquarium, and the Broadway Grand Prix. Either way, I would love to sit on that ferris wheel and look out at the ocean!
#4 Honolulu
Would this really be a beach vacation if I didn’t mention the grand island of Oahu, Hawaii? Oahu is the capital of the chain of gorgeous islands, and is home to the North Shore (depending on the time of year, you may just run into a professional surfer or two..) Find city amenities in Honolulu, and gorgeous beaches (and hiking) along the North Shore.
#5 Maui
Again, how could I not mention this stunning paradise? If the hustle and bustle of Honolulu isn’t quite for you, you can recharge at a tiny neighboring island-Maui. Some of Hawaii’s most pictureque beaches are located in Maui!
#6 Hilton Head
We can forget about the summer that Alison Dilaurentis spent hiding out here, this 42 mile island is perfect for anyone looking to get away. Nightlife is pretty much non-existent on this lazy island, but that’s totally okay if you have kids. You’ll be worn out by then anyway!
#7 Destin
Located in Florida, this fishing-town made it big when a bridge connected the peninsula to the mainland. There are only about 13,000 residents, which gives the beautiful coastal town an incredibly intimate feel. Destin is famous for it’s white sandy beaches which are made from Appalachian quartz. Gorgeous huh?
#8 Ocean City
Like Myrtle Beach, Ocean City boasts a gorgeous boardwalk and a fun amusement park! Be sure to go para sailing, and take your little boys to the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum. Of course, you could always play a quick round of mini golf next to the beach. Check out Ocean City Miniature Golf!
