I have vivid memories spending my summers buried in the sand as I grew up, and I am so excited to share those same memories with my kids. Spending summers on the coast comes with a whole lot of fun, and a whole lot of sand. I’ve dealt with many a meltdown involving an uncomfortable “scratch” from the sand. It can seem downright impossible to remove sand from your skin, but it doesn’t have to be! Use this simple summer hack from all of us “coasties” to get rid of sandy skin!
Before heading to the beach this Summer, be sure to keep a travel container of baby powder in your beach bag. Wet sand is awful to remove from your skin, and applying some baby powder directly to the affected areas will help to dry things out.
I’ve seen people use a paint brush to brush off the sand from the skin, but your hands will work just fine. After the skin has been brushed off, you will find that a white residue of baby powder will be left behind on the skin. Rinse off the excess powder, if desired. Now your legs are fresh, clean, and completely sand-free!
Don’t have any baby powder laying around? Don’t worry! Cornstarch is also a terrific alternative to using baby powder to remove sand from skin. Apply it in the same way, just make sure you rinse off the cornstarch when you’re done!
