If you walked into my home, you would be amazed at how many pieces of weathered furniture I have tucked away in various rooms and corners! But is there really any other way to paint furniture for a coastal home decor scheme? I thought not! If you’re tired of your current furniture, or if you wanted to add a little coastal pizazz to your home, stay right here! Here’s how to weather your furniture.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

-Steel Wool

-White Vinegar

– Safety Goggles/Gloves/ Breathing Mask (just in case!)

-Spray Bottle

-Rags

Step 1

Dust and wipe off your furniture. Make sure it is free of any gunk and dirt. This will determine how the rest of your project turns out.

Step 2

Paint the furniture in the color of your choosing. If you already like the color of your piece of furniture, you can leave it be and skip this step.

Step 3

After your paint has completely dried, fill a spray bottle full of vinegar, and a hint of water. Make sure that the mixture is more vinegar than it is water! Spray the painted wood heavily with the mixture of vinegar and water.

Step 4

After the furniture has been thoroughly sprayed with the water and vinegar combo, you will want to rub down the furniture with a clean and dry cloth. You’ll need to use a bit of elbow grease! Eventually, you’ll see the paint begin to flake off of the furniture. Keep rubbing until the furniture looks how you desire.

Step 5

Still not looking weathered enough? Use your steel wood pad to scrub and weather the paint even more.

And you’re done! Who would have thought that it would be that easy to create a freshly worn piece of furniture!
