My family and I have a long-standing tradition where we make it a point to gather just a few seashells each time we go on a beach vacation. If you’re looking for clever ways to reuse those found seashells, check out this list of amazing things to do with seashells.
Things To Do With Seashells: DIY Ideas
DIY Necklace
Turn your favorite seashell into a coastal charm by hooking it on to a metal ring and stringing it on a necklace.
Candle Crafts
Candle holders are all but necessary for all things entertaining! Fill a glass jar with sand and place a candle in the center. Did you know that the sand acts as a fire extinguisher? Super safe! Wrap the candle holders with twine, and hot glue your prettiest seashell on the front of it.
Seashell Wreath
If you have an old pool noodle laying around, or a foam wreath, you already have the basis for your DIY seashell necklace! Once you have a base, simply hot glue your seashells directly on to your wreath. Hang yours indoors or out, and even add a ribbon for a nice accent!
DIY Christmas Ornament
Alright, alright! You caught me. This isn’t exactly a DIY project, but I’m sure you could squeeze a few of your found seashells into this “kissing” Christmas ball. Fill a wooden ball with dried moss and seashells for a perfectly coastal Christmas decoration.

Tea Light Centerpiece
This might not be the best project for you if you don’t have a set of seashells large enough! But if you do, don’t hesitate! You’ll need a shallow tray filled with sand to keep the seashells upright, and a few tea light candles. Stick your shells into the sand, and then add a few tea light candles to the center of your shells. Talk about mood lighting!
Seashell Candles
In another epic DIY from Martha Stewart, you’ll need to spray paint your shells prior to the project for extra pizzazz! After your shells have been painted, melt wax over the stove and pour into the seashells. Make sure that you add a wicker candle so your shells will light!
