I’ve already begun wrapping all of my Christmas presents…it may be a little premature, but it’s the only way I can stay on top of everything I have to get done for the holiday season. I’m always looking for new ways to dress up my plain holiday wrapping, and I think these twelve gift wrap hacks will definitely help spice things up under my holiday tree.
Wrapping Hack #1:
It might be tempting to do all of your wrapping on the carpet, but it’s best for the outcome of your presents if you wrap on a hard surface. It’s much easier to make your corners crisp when working on a hard surface!
Wrapping Hack #2:
If your present is an awkward shape, it’s best to save yourself the trouble and just stick it in a gift bag instead. If you don’t have any cute gift bags available, use a paper lunch sack instead. Decorate it with fun holiday stickers!
Wrapping Hack #3:
Do you get paper bags when shopping at the grocery store? Cut them up and use them as gift wrap instead! Many grocery stores have a holiday design, anyway, and it’s great when you can recycle and repurpose things like this. Yay, environment!
Wrapping Hack #4:
This wrapping hack isn’t exactly “easy” but it’s darling nevertheless! Use stamps from your craft collection to dress up your regular brown kraft paper wrapping. Additionally, you could use a “stamp roller” to create a pattern on your paper. Beautiful, huh?
Wrapping Hack #5:
You know how kids make art with “potato” stamps cut out to different shapes? You can make potato stamps for your wrapping paper, also! Cut out a potato in the shape of a “tree” and stamp it on your kraft wrapping paper. You can find the tutorial here.
Wrapping Hack #6:
Did you know that you could make a brand new gift back using leftover wrapping paper? You betcha! This tutorial is perfect for anyone needing a last minute solution for any gift wrapping woes. Learn how here.
Wrapping Hack #7:
Do you have a smaller gift that you’re having a hard time finding a box for? Forgo the box, and place your small gift in an old toilet paper roll instead. Cover the roll with tissue paper (or wrapping paper) and tie off the ends with ribbon or twine. I love gift boxes that don’t cost me a thing! Via Red Ted Art.
Wrapping Hack #8:
Plain ribbon can get boring to work with! After all, you can only tie your ribbon in a number of ways! Brighten up your package with a tassel made from yarn, instead. Or, alternatively, you could string yarn through a button to tie things off. Adorable! The Casual Craftette shows readers how to create this for themselves.
Wrapping Hack #9:
Any crafter out there probably has a bin fill of old fabric scraps that they are dying to use! Put them to good use this holiday season, and use your scraps to decorate the outside of your package. Make a tiny banner, bow, or whatever else! Find more fabric scrap ideas here.
Wrapping Hack #10:
I always seem to run out of bows at the LEAST opportune time. Fortunately for me, I can make some for myself (out of wrapping paper) using this tutorial.
Wrapping Hack #11:
Give an old sweater a new life by wrapping a package in it. Wait, what? You can actually use a sweater as wrapping paper? You’d better believe it, and it turned out simply adorable. See how to do it from Boxwood Clippings.
Wrapping Hack #12:
Gift cards aren’t exactly the most thoughtful gift, but an appreciated one nevertheless. Stick your gift card in a DIY snow globe. Made out of a mason jar, of course! Via.
