I don’t know about you, but I forget to clean my fabric window shades pretty regularly. I I mean, they’re hanging on your windows, it can be pretty easy to forget about them! Make cleaning your fabric window shades a part of your weekly cleaning routine with my 5 cleaning tips and cleaning hacks for cleaning fabric window shades. You’ll wonder how you ever survived before!
For Roman Shades
Roman shades are tricky to clean! Use your brush vacuum attachment to remove any dirt and dust from your fabric shades. If necessary, you can spot clean anything with a washcloth dipped in water and a mild dishwashing detergent.
For Sheer Shades
Most people think that sheer shades require some special cleaning method. But actually, you can clean them just as you would a set of roman shades! Use the brush attachment on your vacuum and use it to remove dust and dirt from sheer shades.
Colored Shades
Many people worry that using a cleaning product will dye fabric shades and ruin the flow of your home. Make sure that you spot test ANY kind of cleaning product on a small section of fabric before finishing the cleaning project.
Other Tips and Tricks:
1. When cleaning slats in between blinds, use a damp sponge to remove and trap dirt.
2.As I mentioned before, if you have a tricky stain on your shades, use a mild dishwashing soap to remove it. Use a carpet cleaner, or a commercial grade cleaner if the stain doesn’t appear to be “going” anywhere.
3.For a quick cleaning hack, use a lint roller to catch any dirt, fur, or hair. This is great when you only have a few minutes to clean up before company comes!
4. After you have vacuumed and your treated stains have dried, run a dryer sheet over the shades. This will make your house smell terrific and completely fresh!
5.As with any cleaning project, it is best to work in sections. When both spot treating, and vacuuming dust, work in small sections. This makes the project seem much less overwhelming.
