Of all the coastal decorating ideas I’ve posted about on my website, I think this one has got to be my very favorite! Bookshelves have been a design element in my home for as long as I can remember. Here are a few ways that I style my coastal bookshelves:
Fill your bookshelves with classic items like these coastal picture frames! See how I made my driftwood one here.
Keep things classy and organized with wicker baskets! These add an unbelievable amount of texture and color to coastal bookshelves!
Add color to built-in bookshelves by painting the backboards and adding a few family heirlooms. The only think missing is a ship in a bottle!
Coastal farmhouse is a hard combination to come by! Keep things rustically coastal with small apothecary jars and a few favorite books. It’s about the little elements!
If you can find them, try and incorporate pieces of coral whenever you can! Use large seashells and other naturally found beach elements as well! See this post of mine about decorating with seashells.
It’s easy to keep things effortlessly coastal with lush foliage and baby blue patterns. That palm tree in the corner is stunning!
Finish off your coastal book shelf with some blue tinted glass. The right pieces will be functional storage wise and decor wise! See my tutorial on dyeing glass blue here.
