Planning a beach vacation in the United States can be seriously tough because we have so many good beaches to choose from! Except our massive surface area makes it tricky for most vacationers to visit all of them. In Europe, it seems to be a little easier to hit multiple areas because everything is a little more compact. For all you beach lovers, to make your trip planning go a little easier, I’m breaking down some of the best vacation spots in the US for you. Strap in, grab a pen and let’s get to planning the vacation of your dreams.
Best Vacation Spots In The US
Myrtle Beach is the largest section of “resort beach” on the entire Grand Stand beach section. Known as one of the best vacation spots in the U.S. this beach town has something for everyone. Here, you’ll find gorgeously kept (though sometimes crowded) beaches, several amusement (and water) parks, as well as live entertainment almost every night of the week during peak season. Learn more about all of the happenings in South Carolina from this post, written by me!
Nantucket, Massachusetts
Nantucket is one of my favorite places on planet Earth. Nantucket is one of the most picturesque beach towns I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting with their quaint cottages and wild roses. There are several beaches located within Nantucket and guests seeking calm waters should visit Children’s Beach. The town was a former whaling town, so while you’re here, check out a few local whaling museums!
Head to the Big Island of Hawaii to visit this stunning beach. The beach comes complete with everything you envision when thinking of Hawaii: plenty of coconut trees, white sand, and calm, clean waters. Though you may not see any coral, this bay is the perfect place to practice your snorkeling before heading out into more treacherous waters! Check out these other things to do on the Hawaiian Islands.
Clearwater Beach, Florida
If you’ve ever watched an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, you’ll recognize this beach as one of the ones the family frequented for a season. You know, not that I’ve watched or anything. This is Clearwater Beach, and it is one of the most visited (and one of the most beautiful) beaches in all of Florida. Guests can even stay in one of the high-rise towers right on the beach. Providing a great view. However, this beach is a popular one, so arrive early for the best spot!
Cape May, New Jersey
Head to the most southern point of New Jersey to visit Cape May. It’s a quiet beach–unlike those found in Seaside or other areas of New Jersey, but that’s often why it is visited so frequently. If you love architecture, you’ll love the sprawling homes and lighthouses found throughout the Cape. Pssst…if you look hard enough, you may spot dolphins or whales off in the distance! If there’s one beach you visit in Jersey, make it Cape May.
Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts
I know what you are thinking, isn’t Martha’s Vineyard crowded? It is, usually. But if you head far enough East, you can find refuge in quieter, more isolated beaches. Visit Aquinnah Public Beach (you could even head to the Moshup area for even quieter beaches) for toned-down fun and white, sandy shores. Keep an eye out for lighthouses; you’ll see plenty of them!
Cape Hatteras, North Carolina
If you love adventure, head to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore for 72 miles of beach-related fun spread out across a string of islands. Here, you’ll find the country’s tallest lighthouse spanning 196 feet (248 steps) tall, and you can walk all the way to the top. This is the best place on the East coast for surfing and swimming!
Now that you have a list of the best vacation spots in the US, which one will you choose?
