We’ve been spending the week in Salt Lake City, visiting some old family friends. We’ve been so elated to spend time with them, but have been less than enthused about the awful air quality here! There are several wildfires, so the valley is full of smoke. The harsh breathing conditions have made me crave a tropical beach vacation full of clean, clear air!
If you’re like me, the ideal tropical beach vacation is filled with crystal clear waters, beachside bungalows, and towering palm trees. A perfect description of Kamalame Cay in the Bahamas!
Kamalame Cay is a private island off the coast of the Bahamas completely owned by a resort. Guest can enjoy an incredible retreat equipped with a spa, three miles of private beach, a freshwater pool, a tiki bar (that you can enjoy during all hours of the night), and even hand-delivered breakfast baskets during every day of your stay.
Was this enough to convince you to head to the Bahamas?
Staying At Kamalame Cay
Guests of Kamalame Cay can choose to stay in one of the 27 seaside rooms, bougainvillea covered cottages, bungalows, and Bali-style beach houses. Typical beach rooms sleep between two and three people, but cottage-style suites can sleep up to four. If you have a larger family, contact the resort! As they have other options that are better for larger families! Regardless of the suite you choose, you’re likely to be blown away by the relaxing layout of the suites, and the adorable decor. But the best part is that this island retreat only allows 70 guests at a time; the perfect recipe for relaxation!
Resort Experiences
While some of us are perfectly content with spending out vacation days sprawled out on the beach, others love it when their vacations are planned out with fun activities (ah hem…my husband)! Though you can absolutely stick to the beach at Kamalame Cay, there are several other resort experiences that are not to be missed! Guests should make sure to check out the certified diving pool and scuba diving classes (though, you will need to be a certified scuba diver to attend), Stand-Up paddle boarding (while on the boards, you’ll see some pretty cool wildlife!), and other monthly events such as luncheons and soirees. Make sure to try out snorkeling if you can, while here! Kamalame Cay has plenty of terrific snorkeling options.
Where To Eat While You’re Here
I already mentioned the fabulous breakfast baskets that are delivered every morning, but I haven’t mentioned all of the other fabulous dining options while on the island. Guests can decide to dine at the Great House (one of the island’s main restaurants) for main meals such as lunch and dinner, they have incredibly fresh seafood and rich desserts. If you aren’t quite in the mood for a full-course feast, head to the Tiki Bar and Beach Grill for a snack to tide you over until it is meal time. The Tiki Bar is one of the best places on the island for lunch so don’t forget to visit at least once!
Other Things To Do On Island
Kamalame Cay is just off of the Andros Great Barrier Reef, providing guests with 96 acres of jungle to explore, tons of coconut trees, and miles of beach to roam, with these options, you’ll never run out of things to do. A short boat ride from the resort, guests can explore the surrounding islands as well as the Forfar Field Station (located in Blanket Sound) for guided nature hikes, and other activities.
