Calling all beach-goers! This is a must-hear announcement! The year is rapidly coming to a close and while I had a blast this year, I can’t help but look forward to all of the things to come next year. One of the things I’m most excited about is all of the new beach fashion trends! Last year we saw tons of off-the-shoulder suits in just about every bright color that you could think of. This year, things are heating up even more. Here are a few beach fashion trends that you should definitely keep your eye on in the new year.
Flip-Flops Are Back
But did they really ever leave? This year, flip-flops that you can wear both to the beach and to a night out on the town are going to be bigger than ever. Referred to as the “dress flip-flop” these versatile shoes cost a dime a dozen and they look great paired with suits AND skirts. Find a pair of my favorite dress flip-flops at Banana Republic when the spring fashions hit stores.

Bubblegum Pink Suits
Keep an eye on pink this season. Bright and dramatic, a bubblegum pink bathing suit will help you steal the show in virtually no time at all. Plus, this is one of my very favorite shades to wear to the beach because it highlights a good tan wonderfully! Pair your suit with a white (or creme!) crochet or woven cover-up. I love to shop at Aerie for swimsuits. A bubblegum pink suit will have you looking sweet!
Mismatched Patterns
Mismatched swimsuit patterns, prints, and styles are coming back and it’s poised to be better than ever. Now, things don’t have to match and I’m totally loving it. Beachgoers should feel free to mix polka dots with stripes and mix and match different colored swimsuit tops and bottoms. This is your year to go wild if you like to experiment with odd patterns and colors. The options are truly endless, just be sure to stick to a similar color scheme!
Swimsuit Cut Outs
It’s no secret: showing more skin is going to be a huge trend next year. If you want to show even more skin at the beach, consider wearing a cut out swimsuit the next time you head to the sandy shores. And cutouts don’t have to mean anything super dramatic! Small bits of detailing around the swimsuit top and bottom are a perfect way to participate in the trend without showing too much!
Bold Solid Colored Beach Towels
Sometimes, I think that the style of your beach towel says more about you than your swimsuit! Next year, bold and bright beach towels are going to be all you see strewn on the sandy shores of your local beach hangout. Not only do bright beach towels look beautiful against the white sand, but picking a bright color could help you instantly identify yours!
