If you love design television and coastal home decor, I highly recommend that you check out Christina on the Coast. This is one of my absolute favorite design shows on HGTV right now because it inspires me to decorate my own coastal home in some of the same ways! Below are a few of my favorite Christina on the Coast designs to try out in your own home.
Christina On The Coast Designs
Two-Toned Cabinets
The first thing I noticed about Christina’s home were the gorgeous two-toned cabinets. Take classic shades like blue and white and paint your cabinets in these colors. Of course, I would pick a subtle blue as to not overwhelm your kitchen space. Don’t these look awesome?
Indoor/Outdoor Living
One of the signature qualities of coastal home decor is the mixture of indoor and outdoor living space. Consider installing french doors in your living room or kitchen that open up to an outdoor seating area or patio. This is only the best way to enjoy that beachy breeze, am I right?
Opt For Natural Woods
When designing a coastal home, it’s best to shy away from dark woods like walnut or oak. Instead, pick light woods because these are more accurately representative of driftwood. I even love the idea of a herringbone pattern on your flooring. Of course, don’t forget to add linen fabric wherever you can!
Go For An Off The Beach Vibe
Make sure that you accessorize with items that look like you just found them on the beach, whether you actually found them on the beach or not. You can’t go wrong with actual pieces of driftwood, or seashells (though I highly recommend purchasing these instead of collecting them), and even cool looking rocks.
Replace Your Hardware
Looking to remodel an old piece of furniture that doesn’t really go with your coastal home? Christina recommends that you start by swapping out the hardware of your old furniture for something a little different like hardware made from china.
You Need The Neutrals
When working with such bright and bold blues, it’s important that you mix in enough neutrals as well. They’ll help to break up space so that it isn’t overwhelmed with blue or other tones. You can never go wrong with whites, off whites, or creams. A color scheme is everything.
