Would you believe me if I told you that there is actually a CORRECT way to make your bed every morning? Prepare yourselves…ladies and gentlemen! There IS actually a proper way to make your bed! It might be difficult not to sigh (or roll your eyes..) since you’re going to be crawling right back into that bed come night fall! But, even still, making your bed can make even the messiest bedroom look a little tidier and more “in order.”
You’ll Need These Items (but I’m sure many of you already have them! :))
–Sheet Set (Should include one bottom and top sheet)
-Duvet, quilt, or comforter set.
-Mattress Pad (A MUST in my house!)
-Pillows/Pillowcases
Prior to beginning, it’s a good idea to remove and wash any used bed sheets, and pillowcases. I like to change my bedsheets at least once weekly, but you can change them as often as you desire. After you’ve tossed your load of laundry where it belongs, shake out your mattress pad, pillows, and comforter set. Doing something as simple of this can release dust and yucky bacteria.
Next, add your bottom sheets over top of your mattress. A fitted sheet will slip easily over the corners, but you will need to fold and crease a flat sheet so that 12 inches of “sheet” hangs over the top of your bed.
Next, comes the top sheet! After it is placed evenly on the bed, fold the corners under the mattress to create “hospital corners.”
Once the top sheet is tucked in, throw on your blanket of choice; tucking and folding where you think it is necessary. Lay you pillows across the “back” of the headboard, so the pillows are visible. If you don’t like that look, you can tuck your pillows between your comforter and your top sheet.
Voila!
Sand Between My Piggies Tested Tips:
#1: I like to use a mattress pad because it helps protect my mattress against stains. It also makes it so I don’t have to wash my sheets as often!
#2 After you or a family member overcomes an illness, wash the bedsheets immediately. They love to harbor bacteria!
#3: Practice makes perfect; the more often you make your bed, the faster you can get it done come morning!
