Playa Forum
If you love to hang out with the locals, Playa Forum is the beach for you! Located just behind the Coco Bongo nightclub, Playa Forum is often one of the most popular public beaches in the city. If you don’t like to compete with crowds, this probaby isn’t the beach for you!
Playa Tortugas
Known for it’s crowds during the weekends, Playa Tortugas is better enjoyed during the weekday. This is the perfect beach for swimming because the water is almost completely calm! Be sure to try local seafood while you’re out there!
Playa Chac Mool
Located right next to Playa Forum, Playa Chac Mool sports some of the same gorgeous scenery without the crazy crowds. Visitors can just lay out a towel and seriously relax!
North Beach
North Beach is close to a few privately owned beaches on the island of Isla Mujeres, but it is not one to be missed. Equipped with beach bars (for cocktails) and crystal clear water, this beach is said to be one of the best in the region!
Akumal Beach
Although this beach is located about 60 miles south of Cancun, it would make for a wonderful day trip! If you time your stay right (between June and October) you may be lucky enough to see a few freshly hatched sea turtles!
Playacar Beach
Located in Playa Del Carmen (this city is about an hour south of Cancun) Playacar Beach is known for it’s calm waters and empty beaches. Be sure to bring your own towels, treats, and umbrellas! Pssst…because this beach is so quite, it’s a favorite for kite boarders!
