I travel often. But I firmly stand by the words: “flying sucks.” Because it does. It totally does. The novelty of this gigantic flying bus wore off when I was little. Not only is the experience itself a little bit terrifying, but the plane is always a little too cold for my liking. When I fly, I have to have a blanket or I simply freeze to death. However, you should NEVER use an airline provided blanket! Bring your own instead. I’ll tell you why below…prepare to be SHOCKED!
Fresh Blankets Are Only Washed ONCE Daily
Yep. You read that right. Unless you were on the first flight of the day, out of an originating city, you aren’t getting a clean blanket. In some cases, that is. Some airlines only wash their blankets once every two weeks. And this goes for the pillows, too. Are you thoroughly cringing yet, I know I was when I first found out!
But What About The Plastic?
Just because your airline-provided pillow and blanket are all wrapped up in a nice little plastic sleeve doesn’t mean they’re clean. In fact, some airlines are said to fold up dirty blankets and slide them right back into the packet. Yuck. I wanted to take about ten showers after reading that news. And from that moment on, I vowed to bring my own blanket aboard every flight. Because who wants to cuddle up in someone else’s germs?
Stay clean and sanitary on your next flight by packing one of the travel blankets and pillows below:
I have exactly this neck pillow and it was a lifesaver on a flight to London! It’s made out of memory foam and will keep you as comfortable as possible on an international flight.
My husband swears by this really cool twistable travel pillow. You can twist and turn it in a variety of different ways to best fit the curves of your body.
This blanket folds up tiny, so you can take it along with you on any flight. However, it does look a little thin. This may not be the best option for those who get cold.
A blanket this soft and luxurious is sure to keep you warm on even the nippiest of flights!
