Forget cleaning things the old fashioned way! Why spend time and energy cleaning when you could spend it doing things that you actually enjoy? These cleaning hacks from Mom will save you time on chores AND get your house cleaner than it’s ever been! You can’t miss these cleaning hacks from Mom!
1.Got stinky carpets? There’s no need to buy a store bought cleaner that may or may not work! Instead! Mix 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oils (I use lemon for this) with a bit of baking soda. Sprinkle the mixture on carpets, let sit for 30 minutes, and vacuum up. Smells fresh, right?
2.I was always hesitant to purchase a cast iron pan because I never knew how to clean it. Soap isn’t to be used, after all! Use Kosher salt and a halved potato to remove grime and baked on gunk from your pans. This requires much less elbow grease, as well!
3. No one likes a gross cutting board! No matter the kinds of fruits and veggies that you are chopping, it’s super important to disinfect your cutting boards. Do so with little effort by sticking your boards in a white vinegar and lemon juice mix. This method is only good for plastic cutting boards, and this could warp your wooden ones!
4.Cleaning the oven is one of my least favorite chores. And honestly, I avoid doing it whenever I possibly can. The next time your oven needs a scrub, do so easily with white vinegar and baking soda. This article has more!
5.Uhm, does anyone out there actually like cleaning the shower? I didn’t think so! Save your knees, elbows, and whatever else is strained when cleaning the bathroom with this easy trick. Fill a dish scrub brush with homemade shower cleaner and go to town on any soap scum or mildew!
6. A stinky garbage disposal can leave guests running for the door. Keep yours fresh with frozen vinegar, citrus rind, and mint or rosemary springs. Freeze the cubes, and run them through your garbage disposal when things could use a little freshening!
7.Pet hair gets everywhere. This I know, all too well. Use a lint roller to remove pet hair from clothes and furniture. Rubber gloves also work well to pick up fur when working in a larger area!
8.Save hours when cleaning the baseboards! Wrap a towel around the base of a mop or broom, secure with a rubber band. Once secured, dampen the towel with your favorite household cleaner to easily pick up any baseboard dirt.
9.If you don’t have a power-washer, but want to remove oil stains on concrete, use Draino! Simply pour the mixture onto the oil stains, let sit for 20 minutes, and scrub them away with a wire scrub brush. Rinse the product away with a hose! Voila!
10.Swiffer pads can be expensive, but the Swiffer is the fastest way I’ve found to clean my floors and I’m not giving that up! Instead of spending a ton on reusable Swiffer Pads, use my tutorial to make yourself a reusable one!
