Holiday Vacations On The Coast That Are Not Crowded

December 11, 2020 by Brittney Jacobson Leave a Comment

No one wants to spend their holiday vacation shoulder-to-shoulder with someone at the beach, it kind of defeats the whole point of a relaxing vacation! Traveling to a tropical location during the holidays can get especially rough for some travelers and the crowds can be downright unbearable. No one wants to spend their Christmas vacation fighting with someone for the last good spot by the pool! If you’re dreaming of holiday vacations on the coast without the crowds, visit these coastal vacations.

Holiday Vacations On The Coast

Atlantic Beach, Florida

According to locals, Atlantic Beach is one of the least crowded beaches in Florida. This quiet retreat is nothing like the hectic, crowded chaos found in Daytona! Located just east of Jacksonville, this family-friendly beach is perfect for a wintertime retreat. While visiting, make sure you check out the Dutton Island Preserve for tons of wildlife and other gorgeous scenery.

Charleston, South Carolina

While Charleston isn’t the place to go if you’re looking to improve your tan and soak up some rays, Charleston is one of the most beautiful uncrowded holiday locations. While in the area, visit Harleston Village, check out Waterfront Park. And while enjoying your holiday vacation, be sure to stop and check out Charleston’s Rainbow Row–it’s a gorgeous row of historic pastel homes that just might be the most picturesque part of your trip!

Isla Holbox, Mexico

Isla Holbox is one of the least-known travel destinations in Mexico. The island gives on off the grid vibe. Isla Holbox is about 3 hours north of Cancun, by ferry from the small port of Chiquila to the actual Isla itself. Traveling to the area is quite a process but the quiet, tranquil beaches are certainly worth it. The area is known for great snorkeling, so be sure to take a swim somewhere!

Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos is one of my very favorite holiday vacation destinations. Not only are the beautiful white sandy beaches uncrowded but the price of travel is relatively low for this area of the Caribbean. Head to Turks and Caicos for a quiet holiday retreat that will leave your neighbors a little jealous. Check out this article of mine for more on traveling to the area! You’ll definitely want to cross Turks and Caicos off of your “sand” bucket list!

Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

Holiday vacations on the coast :

While it isn’t an actual oceanic beach, Lake Atitlan is one of the most gorgeous destinations in all of Guatemala. Not only that, but it’s one of the least crowded winter destinations as well! Located in the highlands of Guatemala, the area is known for its quaint villages, Mayan ruins, and several active volcanoes! There are a handful of villages around the lake to stay at, each differing in culture and customs.

Sanibel Island, Florida

Believe it or not, Sanibel Island is one of my favorite beach locations across all of the United States. There are several beaches spread out over the island.  If you choose to spend your holiday at this uncrowded beach location, please be sure to explore Periwinkle Way (the BEST restaurants are all located here!), The Sanibel Lighthouse,  and the Schoolhouse Theater for some after-dinner entertainment.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan is typically less busy during the holiday season. This island has plenty of good hotels and restaurants. Beaches are less crowded in the mornings.

Which location holiday vacations on the coast will you pick?
