Go Big, Or Go (Visit) ROME!

Have you always dreamed of visiting Rome? Well, guess what? Now is as good of a time as any to get your feet wet in the history (and experience) of Rome, Italy. Not only can you immerse yourself in works of art from centuries ago, but you can indulge yourself in plenty of wine and food. Who doesn't like that? If you are planning to visit Rome, check out this list of amazing things to do.

Visit Rome: Things To Do

As the capital city of Italy, there are PLENTY of fun things to do in the city of Rome. Make sure that you check out the Vatican, though this is a popular destination so it can get crowded. Also make sure you stop by the Colosseum and Pompei. You can even sign up for a walking tour throughout the city. I’ve found that it was the best way to see everything. There are even packages that let you enjoy a sunrise breakfast at the Vatican. It’s a pretty unbelievable experience if you ask me!

Places To See

Aside from the ancient architecture and other well-known sights throughout Rome, I recommend checking out some of the less well-known places too. Campo De’ Fiori is a great produce market located in the heart of the city that you should definitely check out. I also liked visiting the Orange Garden. It was so peaceful and nice to take a moment to myself with nature.

Tips

Naturally, there is a lot of tourism in Rome. Instead of waiting in line all day to do things like visit the Colosseum or Pompei, plan out your trip ahead of time and make reservations. This will save you TONS of time when it comes to planning out your itinerary. Additionally, tipping is not expected in Rome but is appreciated, always order coffee at the bar, and NEVER order a cappuccino after noon, it’s blasphemous in Italy.

On A Budget

Working on a shoestring budget? It’s still totally possible to enjoy Rome with not much money to spend! If you have a tight budget, I recommend checking out Villa Borghese (you can rent a rowboat and head out on the lake for a day!), or visit the Mouth of Truth (it’s free to check it out and QUITE an experience). The Jewish Ghetto is also free to explore and has a variety of quaint shops, cafes, and other lovely things to explore.
