I am practically counting down until the Fourth of July! Every year, my family heads to the beach on the Fourth and we have the best picnic! Naturally, the beach is pretty crowded on the Fourth, so we decided to host our picnic in our backyard instead! I’m committed to still making the experience special for my kiddos, because they’ll definitely miss the beach! Have fun, and celebrate America’s birthday with these really cool patriotic picnic ideas!
Although we aren’t heading to the beach this year, that shouldn’t stop your from getting sand between your piggies! Bring brightly patterned pillows to make the space look like something that came out of a design catalogue. If you can swing it, bringing a small side table might be helpful if you needed something to set certain food items on! This idea came from Evite Parties.
If you want to host a backyard picnic, you can’t forget to completely deck out your serving stand. Although this wouldn’t technically be a “picnic” these paper goodies would look wonderful wherever they were put! Summertime is hot! But that’s no secret to any of you! Keep your guests refreshed, cool, and thirst-free. Use mason jars as cups for a rustic and a “classic” feel. I’m sure your grandma will remember drinking lemonade out of something similar! If you don’t trust the kiddos with glass dishes, you can always just use plastic instead! No one will ever know! Find this idea over at Better Homes and Gardens.
Your silverware needs a little bit of love too! Pick up red, white, and blue silverware from your local party store. Use patriotic woven baskets to house them! This is another cute idea from Better Homes and Gardens.
Remember when I said that mason jars were a classic? If my last idea didn’t convince you, this serving idea definitely will! Use mason jars to store party favors or to house a few delicious desserts. See how they did it over at Evite Parties!
My kids would think I’m the worst if I forgot the popcorn! Popcorn is our favorite snack to much on while watching the firework show (usually put on by Dad, ha!) I really like the idea of creating paper “cones” instead of using paper bowls. You can fit so much more into these! You’ll never have to miss a moment of the excitement to go get a refill. Idea from Taste of Home.
