I recently got a new television stand, and I was super bummed to discover that you could see through the glass doors and spot the mad mess of wires that I had going on back there. I’ve been determined to find a way to minimize the messy look it creates. I was bound and determined to get my chord clutter under control, and here’s how I did it!
Her Campus has a terrific tutorial that shows you how to hide the elaborate tangle of your desk-side devices. Keep your laptop cable, phone charger, and tablet charger all separated and totally stowed away. Always make sure you decorate your box, because this is what people will remember!
If long chords aren’t your problem, but figuring out which chord well really does you in, it’s time to label! Recycle old “bread tabs” (what do you guys call them? Is there a word for the plastic devices that secure bags of bread?) and label them with what each chord belongs to. Troubleshooting will be a breeze! Idea from Good Housekeeping.
Have you ever heard of command hooks? I’m sure you have! One of my favorite ways to eliminate chord clutter is to use a command hook to hide the chords away. Command hooks are super sticky, and will stick to any surface. Stick them to the backs of your furniture legs to hide long, droopy chords.
If you have a ton of different charger cables and devices (let’s be honest, who doesn’t?) try recycling your toilet paper rolls and using them to store your different charging cables. Stack them in a box, and store them in a cabinet. No more knots! From HomeDIT.
Every laptop owner knows how disappointing it is to unplug your laptop only to have the charging cable immediately fall on the floor. Who has time for that? Not me! Secure binder clips to the lip of your desk and loop your charging cables through the hoop. Plugging your devices in has never been more convenient!
