July 17, 2020 by Brittney Jacobson 4 Comments

Tinted mason jars are my favorite thing to decorate with in my coastal home. The blue tint makes the mason jar look like it came straight out of the ocean! You can purchase your mason jars already tinted, but those are miles more expensive than the regular mason jars. Here are the materials you will need and steps on how to tint mason jars in no time!

If you're planning on tinting a mason jar, make sure you waterproof it! This will show you how to tint mason jars and how to waterproof them as well! #howtotintmasonjars #howtotintmasonjarsdiy #howtotintmasonjarswaterproof #howtotintmasonjarswithfoodcoloring #howtotintmasonjarsblue #howtotintmasonjarswithglue #sandbetweenmypiggiesblog

How To Tint Mason Jars In No Time

Items Needed:

  • –Mason Jars
  • -Blue food coloring
  • -glue
  • – mixing bowl
These colorful mason jars would make a great addition to any home! Here are the materials you will need and steps on how to tint mason jars in no time!

Step One: Add a tablespoon of water to your mixing bowls, and add AT LEAST twenty drops of blue food coloring. Anything less than that the blue will not show up on the glass. Depending on the shade of blue desired, add more (or less) food coloring.

Step Two: Next, pour a tablespoon of glue into the inside of your mason jar. Pour in your food coloring. Cover the mouth of the jar, and coat the insides of your jars with the glue/food coloring mixture.

These blue mason jars just scream summer! Here are the materials you will need and steps on how to tint mason jars in no time!

Step Three: After you coat the inside of your jar, turn it upside down and let it sit just like that for ten minutes, pouring out any of the excess glue mixture (you can always reuse it!)  While it’s sitting upside down, preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step Four: Line a cookie sheet with wax paper, and place the upside-down mason jars on the sheet. Place in the oven for fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes have passed, turn your jars upright and bake again for an additional fifteen minutes.

Blue mason jars just give an extra something special to a room, so why not make your own? Here are the materials you will need and steps on how to tint mason jars in no time!

And that’s it! Your mason jars are tinted, ready to use, and simply gorgeous. This is a great project to do with your kiddos, girlfriends, or even by yourself! These also make great gifts to give to all of your friends.

Can you put hand sanitizer in these jars? I just didn’t know if the alcohol would take the color off.

Can it be any glass jar, or is there a difference in thickness of the glass?
